A fascinating tour of the mine; a wonderful place to visit for something a little different! The tour guide was extremely informative and her English was impeccable making for a very welcoming and interesting tour. The lift cages for descending to and ascending from the mine are small and cosy, but the caverns and tunnels down below are vast. A highly recommended experience.

Observe the geological beauty of the rock salt walls and the old and current machinery exposed in the mine and hear about the importance of this place in the geological and economic context of the region.
Then, explore the site from an artistic perspective by learning the history of Saint Barbara, the patron saint of miners, interpreted by contemporary artist Klaus Zylla through twelve very colorful paintings.
